Ladies, has your mom's tried to get you to be more girly?

I was a tomboy growing up. I loved climbing trees, getting dirty, playing sports and I just loved wearing jackets, beanie hates and sneakers and pants. Sometimes I dress girly but not too often. My mom was after me for dressing too "tomboyish" so she said to me one time, "You know it wouldn't kill you to act like a girl for one day. You were born a girl. BE A GIRL." I told her, "Just because I'm a girl doesn't mean I have to be girly. Not every girl is girly." She told me to quit a taking back to her. We had fights about it. Occasionally I would wear dresses, curl my hair on semi formal events. I'm still a tomboy but dress more of a woman. Not a huge fan of dresses. As a kid if I wear a dress, I wear sneakers with them.

Not really. I've always been quite girly, even though I refused to wear dresses/skirts or have my hair up as a child. I still wore bright colours and stuff, and wore my uniform most days. It was never really a concern for her, I feel. Even though she's a very feminine woman, she never tried to push any of my siblings into her style. A lot of the time, I feel like mothers try to push a certain style on young girls because they think the girl won't find a man otherwise. I think that's a pretty shitty mentality.
I think so. I think thats why i have dresses now lolz
