Would you participate in a post here that's like a group therapy thing where we all say something once a week?

Do you think it's a good idea?

Sounds like it could work for some folk here, but what your describing is what SW is for haha
@Longpatrol lol I know but if we all say something in a specific post it'd be more interesting. I'll tell @5thApprentice about this and hopefully he can add his touches.

I like the idea, in principle, but I'm afraid that not enough people would participate in a positive, sincere way. It would probably be overrun by trolls and weirdos, or ignored altogether. I could have seen this working on EP (maybe), but EP had more members who were sincere and appreciated thoughtful posts. Like Elandra said, people seem to prefer quick quips these days. I think most people seem to have shorter attention spans these days. It's sad, and I don't know if or how that's ever going to change, but that's the way things are right now.

I suppose that if it were by invitation only, it could work, but then it probably wouldn't have enough members to really take off the way some posts do that end up going viral.
@TeresaRudolph71 It's the wrong site for it People haven't come her with a common goal in mind and fake accounts are all over. Now if a Social site like linkedin was made then it would work. Consider:

On linkedin we ARE who we sat we are and that is our pics! There is no talk of fakes.
There is now 2nd or 7th account.
We have a common goal-to network. To speak to like minded people in our area of work. the seek work or advance in what we are doing, to be be seen by employers, and assist those in networking areas. If one does not have that goal they are not there.
There is no disgusting fetishes on BDSM, no talk of how proud one is for shitting their diapers then going to the mall with it soiled or like talk. No spanking bullshit. No incest or bestiality.
People brought together with a common goal. to aid other and better themselves.

Now-if that could be done this would be a good idea but I would have it done in closed round tables via gotomeeting or something else. a 16 member panel--rotated weekly with results SHARED--would work. Yes, time zones are a problem and that is why it does not happen I am sure.

Livejournal, before the Russians owned it and changed it was close to it and a variation of this idea may work on reddit on subreddits by invitation.

You offer a great analysis though. Well thought out! Kudos to you !
It's a terrible idea for SW as it will fail.. The idea, in and of itself is noble and honourable but it assumes too much. In questions it would fail quicker than in stories. More trolls, malcontents, and so on.

We do not live in the age of advise anymore. We live in the age of the quick laugh, sight gag, gif, meme, song lyric or self centered quip.

In the time of Dickens, Twain and Matisse and Debussy this may have worked.

Not now and not here.
@Elandra77 It's just like the December doodles thing. Did you hear of it or happen to participate in it?

It's not about advice it's just a way to share our problems or thoughts or whatever just like an offline support group. Just like when we shared doodles on that challenge where we got to know a little bit more about people we never contacted through their drawings. I believe it could be something positive and worth a try even if it fails.
@PiecingBabyFaceTogether Never heard of it. Or of I did I ignored it as I can't draw, I can write though.

What people mean and how they say it CAN become lost in text and can be misconstrued. I see that idea being exactly that.

As I said, noble idea-but one domed to fail before starting.
Yes my name's Jamie an I'm an alcoh......
