My experience in discussing this with grandchildren and their friends - theoretically all intelligent teenagers - is that they have not the vaguest understanding of the science. They have, with varying degrees of naiveté, simply accepted variations of the "12 years to save the earth".

I have been stunned by their absence of even the most basic knowledge of climate science, nor the ramifications of the actions they blindly support.

@HowardP many adults as well; they simply lack the intelligent and understanding of all the natural factors that contribute to climate change; things like:

increased solar activity (sun burning hotter in recent decades)

increased volcanic activity (large amounts of ash and sulfur dioxide spewed into atmosphere)

more common wildfires, mostly caused by lightening strikes (pump out far more emissions than people every year)

shifting patterns/cycles of weather (that've been occurring long before people were around)

Now what do these retards propose we do about it, go dump some ice on the sun & protest in the caldera of an active volcano? 🙄

@wildbill83 the depletion of the ozone layer will eventually mean life, as we know it today, is finished. Some argue that we've done enough to halt the depletion and if we do too much to prevent further depletion we will suffer from having too much ozone, thus preventing sufficient healthy UV rays getting through. So at the moment, 'as you were'

@Braveheart ermmmm. I think you will find a super small minority of climate change scientists who would say that we've done enough......but the facts just don't add up to that conclusion
Braveheart · M
@gol979 throwing it out there for your views.
gol979 · 41-45, M
@Braveheart why not throw the accepted and evidenced version instead of what big corporations what you to say?
It seems that you would be swimming against the tide of opinion on here if you did, so you're still being contrary
Braveheart · M
@gol979 the invitation was for you or any one else to do so. I support what the kids did and if anything, a day out protesting probably did them the world of good, soaking up some UV for VitD. At least they got out into the fresh air away from their screens.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@Braveheart I guarantee they spent 90% of the time staring at their smart phones...

@wildbill83 haha, that doesnt surprise me. You won.
