@popmol You must "fix" yourself. Do the hard work. No one wants to fix anybody. They want someone who is strong and can work on problems. You can fix cars or objects. Never people. Unless it is broken bones or such.

@gmatthewb Agreed, not to suggest any loving person would abandon someone that was terminally ill, I know for my son or my girlfriend I would be there for them, even my ex-wife I would help. I guess I mean more that you say you are staying in the relationship because she needs you due to this. That to me implies if she was healthy the relationship would probably be over, or maybe I am reading that wrong. Also that you say you married to make things easier. Either way, great that you are there for her, and I hope her suffering does not have to drag on.

@Lackwittyname She has ALS, so it is terminal eventually. If she was never diagnosed and fully healthy today, I would still be in a relationship with her, just not married as neither of us wanted to get married when we originally got together. We have known each other for over 20 years and were friends for a long time before giving a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship a try. It was just over a year after we got to that part in our relationship that she was diagnosed. I do care about her and wish I could spend the rest of my life with her, unfortunately, this disease is taking her from me so soon after we have gotten this close.
