I have a PS4, and an old Xbox 360. As a general rule, I dislike console gaming, but getting a machine that will run desktop games properly is an expensive proposition, especially as I use a Mac to do actual work and only ever use a PC for gaming.
That being said, there have been a lot of games I've played that I've enjoyed a lot on consoles. I played through Diablo III first on desktop and then on PS4, and it was just as enjoyable on console, if not more so. Dishonored was a great deal of fun, as was Uncharted 4.
Now, I've tried to play the console version of The Sims 4, and found it too clunky to be as enjoyable as desktop, but it was OK.
I got a second-hand PS4 from a family member recently but honestly the vast majority of games you get on the PS4 you can get on the PC (excluding exclusives ofc). Playstation are already planning to release a new console (rumored but it's been a while since ps4 release so it is likely)- no release date yet but I would assume in a couple of years. One thing I noticed about the PS4 is that space gets taken up quite quickly. Overall I prefer PC but I think the PS4 is good too but only worth it imo if you can get it on sale or a second-hand console.
PC is not dying out at all, most people I know who play games use PC and 3 of my friends play on the PS4 - one of them plays mostly PC atm.
