Are Youtube "Stars" a real thing?

I went on Youtube and watched some Youtube 'Stars' - PewDiePie, KSI, Logan Paul. i didn't enjoy watching their content - maybe i'm too old? idk. Are these people considered legitimate entertainers?

I don't know about stars, but there're several good ones. PewDiePie is just annoying. Try, instead, Fitz and SovietWomble. These are the guys I enjoy for gaming channels.
