If you want decent conversation, chances are you will need to message the person first. Someone who has a filled out profile and is interactive on posts.
And yes women do that as well and expect guys to magically come up with interesting things to say to keep the conversation going. Replying with "Lol" is NOT an acceptable way to reply. Unless you're just not interested in talking anymore! Class dismissed.

I must admit it feels to me that women having higher expectations of men than men do of them hence they're generally more disappointed

I don't know about that... Maybe in real life but online? There's no way women have a high expectation of men when they get messages like this all the time...
