What is brown butter exactly?

I've heard of it but don't know what it is.

Just butter heated over low heat till it foams and begins to turn brown. Tasty.

@Mamapolo2016 even though I didn't know what it was at first i pictured that is how they made it.

@Mguinm You could uae cocoa to turn it brown but the gravy makes mashed potatoes taste funny
