I dont want to go to the hospital, is a person able to recover from pneumonia on their own?

Some can with the correct treatment. If you haven't seen a doctor, this is a must...to be properly diagnosed and get antibiotics and possibly some steroids

It depends how your symptoms are. It can be treated without hospitalisation but because it's a condition that can advance quickly, and become dangerous, it's best to be under regular observation. Hospital is usually the best place for that.

@GlassDog I agree...pneumonia can be battled without hospitalization, but medical intervention is a must. No medical help however is just asking for trouble and possibly a death sentence.

@indyjoe Yep, even with antiobiotics (which generally fix things), it really does need those obs.

If it's bacterial - get your ass to the hospital. Also some forms of pneumonia are contagious. Do you have small children or elderly around you...Do you plan on leaving your house, if so get your ass to the hospital.
With proper treatment. The pneumonia developed because the body wasn’t able to fight off the initial infection.

You’d need tests to determine what kind of antiviral you need.

I've never heard anyone say, "I'm just gonna stay home and fight off this little case of pneumonia I have going on".

Seriously, that's not a home remedy situation.

It is remotely possible but not without leaving long term damage behind...for the most part not seeking medical help, pneumonia can and will kill you.

One of my coworkers recently had it. She went to a doctor and got antibiotics, but she was never hospitalized. I wouldn't try to fight it alone, though.
Pneumonia ian't something to take lightly. A doctor can diagnose it and prescribe for it and no doctor can MAKE you go to the hospital.
How do you know you have pneumonia?

My hub had pneumonia and was hospitalized several years ago. He would have died had he not gone. See a doctor just to make sure.
