Why is it that most of the people who whine about my generation being the "trophy" generation are usually part of the generation that started it?

The whole "everyone gets a trophy" thing wasn't because of the kids in the first place. The parents are the ones who created that system because some parents couldn't stand their child not being a winner at everything they do- I've even seen parents get angry and upset over their kid not getting a reward while the kids didn't even care. Growing up me and most the kids I knew didn't care about getting some participation trophy. Those usually end up in a box never to be seen again or in the garbage. The only trophies people from my generation tend to keep- if any- are the ones we earned. If anything it was more embarrassing that we had to get "you didn't win but you tried!" trophies. The generation after mine might have more issues with it since they grew up thinking it was normal and that they should get something for everything they do and some don't know what it's like not to have a trophy or how to handle not being a "winner"- but that's not even their faults either since they're groomed to think they deserve something for nothing. Why point the fingers at the first generation to start receiving trophies for nothing and not at the parents who were a reason why such special treatment had to happen?

Because people who still hold onto generational identities aren’t that smart to begin with. Millennials are 24-37 years old now but you still see bitter old people calling teenagers “entitled millennials”

@Insomniac100 I think basically anyone born after the 70s is considered "entitled" by others for whatever biased reason and it's easier for them to just call us all millennials. Honestly I don't go around saying "Oh I'm a millennial" or anything but people constantly remind me like that's my identity. My only point of using it here on this post was because I've had to hear it over and over again about how "my generation" started this entitled mindset and fucked up all future generations by people who are part of the generation that is the reason some things are the way they are.
