The change happened in the later periods in India's development, it fell under the control of immoral members of the brahmin caste who used it falsely to support notions of racism and misogyny which Dharma is strictly against, but they were able to convince people of through politics and restricting direct acccess to the scriptures.

This is a tactic that continues to work in India till this day. The vast majority of Hindus have never actually studied their scriptures in depth. They are bhaktas who take their religious cues from whatever swamis and gurus they choose to follow. Just like the vast majority of Christians in the Western world and Muslims in the Muslim world.

So ideas about what is Hinduism and what is not Hinduism are often being put out there by people who definitely should not be speaking for the Dharma. True, this is a problem the whole world seems to be dealing with.

If you study hindu surnames they're based on the profession the caste has assigned them.

The correct name for the brahmin religion is vedic arya dharm.
This religion was only formed to preserve the pure blood of white skinned upper caste people in a land of defeated dark skinned people (they're called asura in holy texts)

@Miram yeah.. some things just never change regardless of religion or civilization. people get power.. control those who claim to speak for all and are the supposed gate keepers of truth.. manipulate history and fund propaganda until it flows like water and the truth become a maligned niche point of view. we seem to be trapped in a cycle we just can't break free of.

I have been studying ancient Hinduism for Two years. There are no ancient texts supporting the current understanding of the cast system.

After he reconverted balaji nimbalkar many scholars from kashi and varanasi in maharashtra considered the authority of shivaji over hindu religion a sin.
Chatrapati sambhaji raje was captured by moslem ruler Aurangzeb with help of ramdas swami's disciple Ranghnath swami because sambhaji being a maratha gave watandari to dalit and adivasis of maharashtra.
The same ramdas swami was falsely portrayed as a guru of shivaji maharaj to reestablish brahmin supremacy.
