I personally prefer the movies, but liking the books more is a valid opinion. I thought the movies cut down a lot of the extraneous material that really just did not add anything to the story besides length, and changed some things to make it more consistent and flow better.

More often than not the book is much more enjoyable than the film version, but objectively it's a false comparison, offering different forms of enjoyment. To get the most from both, i think you have to try and seperate them rather than compare. Imo.

I liked both but to get the most enjoyment out of them I've found that it is generally bettef to see the movie before reading the book.
