Has it become socially aceptable to be rude on the internet

I often will friend people based on nothing more then similar age and interest groups on here. Someone just went off on me for not saying "hello" within an arbitrary amount of time. Sorry world, I'm not online 24-7, I'm not on a smart phone . I get online and chat when I have time.

I remember you quite well from EP. I was brought over here by another old EP member and I am happy. To answer your question - no, it is NOT socially acceptable to be rude on the internet. When I first came over here, I got pop-ups asking me to "just chat". Sorry, strangers, but I don't know you from Adam and I don't want to talk unless it 's in response to a post from either one of us to the other, or a subject I have an opinion on. But I agree with you, Steveinlandsea, not 24/7. Welcome to our worlds!

@Steveinlandsea There's a difference between being open-minded and getting hit with a particularly dirty posting from some troll (yeah, they exist,too - guess they migrated over). If they instigate you, report them. I do. I had a post once where the girl was looking for a post by a "sugar daddy". It wasn't directly to me, but I turned it in and it disappeared.

@Steveinlandsea If you DON'T do it and ignore it, the worst trolls think they can get away with murder (or just short of it). They post sexy comments or mock you. Or both. I had an innocent posting I printed, and some troll put in one of those dirty pictures and turned it into an obscene advertisement. I don't know who did it, but I was fit to be tied.

socially acceptable?? I'm not sure. socially accepted, sort of. People show how incredibly unreasonable they are on social media. some of them are even aware of this. lots of them are a little bit stupid in such matters.
