personally I found that a lot of men were alarmed by it but it was taking down men in positions of power and for those of us who despise the status quo intensely like I ddo watching the high and mighty crumble is entertaining.

@BetweenKittensandRiots

We would do well to remember the words of Martin Niemöller -

First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.
@suzie1960 While I agree with martin I don't think the me too movement is even nearly the nazis. This is merely a movement of women opening up about sexual harassment an assault and trying to teach the world it happens to all women. Not just the ones who dress the right way and all of our victim blaming is bullshit. Assuming the movement sticks to it's actual goals I'm largely in support. YOu know me I was already trending in the feminist direction.
@BetweenKittensandRiots No but the concerns is appropriate. Margaret Atwood was attacked for daring to suggest due process should not be thrown out in favor of trial by public opinion and vigilante "justice ". It is already heading that way and has proven to be selective and biased in who is targeted and in at least one case outright hypocritical.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow calmn down. They can scream all they want about it but it is still a republic.
that will be VERY hard for people like me to change assuming that we'd even WANT To remove due process.

I sure as fuck do not and I am in favor of tilting the playing field more towards democracy.
@BetweenKittensandRiots With the power to complete destroy people through social media they have already rendered due process irrelevant. Anonymous tried similar crusades a few years before that and created plenty of mayhem before running afoul of the Los Zetas cartel.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Have you actually thought about it? You do realize that when a woman is raped that our society is SO based in the males interest it often never goes to trial in the first place right? It doesn't even get reported at all. Women are scared to even come forward. Metoo is NOWHERE near that large. please wake up and realize the majority of us are intensely inclined to DEFEND men?
@BetweenKittensandRiots So that justifies trial by angry mob?
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow No but I have an angry mob against me as it is on social media. People love me or hate me. Deal with it. We can't do much more than make somebody unpopular.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow it can be HARD to deal with a large angry mob on the internet who dislikes you? Hrm? Why does this sound so familiar? I've complained about similar things.

Many girls and women have been harrased and they didnt tell their families
@BetweenKittensandRiots Sorry but that is extremely naive. People have already been black listed from entire industries and ruined, their relationships destroyed by a Facebook post. I give it a year till people are posting addresses and inciting attacks.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I've been doxxed. I'm still here.

I happen to be male but I've supported this movement since it's inception ever since a friend of mine was raped and I was only one of two who warned her if she didn''t come forward he'd do it again to some other girl she could be a hero she could convict the bastard who did it to her and protect everyone else.

I came to realize through supporting her just how profoundly biased society is. We don't even want to believe. We love our boys, it's hard to imagine them behaving this way. I understand... but some of them do.
@BetweenKittensandRiots Have you been accused of rape? People have been murdered over such accusations before and it is only getting easier.

Funny how nobody ever wants to talk about men being raped either. But since most happen to inmates the common consensus is they deserve it and crack a joke about dropping the soap.

Or how Me too was completely silent and supporting the same bs tactics when the victim was a male accusing a "respected " feminist academic.

For me it started with good intentions but has long since proven to be morally bankrupt like most social media activists.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow sighing. I spoke out against the sex offender registry at one point. I don't approve of it at all.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow factually those falsely accused are in a tiny minority compared to the number of rapes actually reported and to the number convictions regarding rape.. The fear of being falsely accused is way overrated.. there are ways of weeding out false accusers and no one likes them, they make it worse for real victims..
However, bearing in mind that while NO ONE wants to see people harmed by false accusations the damage done, especially as they would almost never come to trial is nothing compared to the damage caused women and children by rape and sexual abuse..
@BetweenKittensandRiots That is my point. This is getting to that ×10 with zero failsafes.
@Adaydreambeliever I agree with you that the fear of false accusers is overblown to a huge extent. I've never been personally accused and I Trust women not to falsely accuse me of it.
@Adaydreambeliever Well that is exactly what will happen with the hand grenade approach to justice leaving God to sort out the guilty. I hear plenty of people say that but actions suggest they don't care who gets in the crossfire.

the first woman to reply is absolutely right. it's ONLY The ones with predatory tactics that are complaining. Notice I 'm not? I don't feel dating is impossible.

@BetweenKittensandRiots
You do realize that when a woman is raped that our society is SO based in the males interest it often never goes to trial in the first place right?
Just like when a woman makes a provably false, malicious allegation against an innocent man. It's very, very rare that such women are prosecuted.
@BetweenKittensandRiots Now in this discussion we are already at questioning the mob is proof of guilt.
@suzie1960 false accusations should absolutely be criminal.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@BetweenKittensandRiots They are but the authorities just turn a blind eye when a woman makes a false allegation against a man.
@suzie1960 I really have NO mercy for false accusers I do believe they belong in jail for it because they do real harm, the cry wolf effect.... Women should not have to deal with that crap. They make people less likely to trust women in the long run when they tell their tales. I Despise them.
