Do you control your partner or do they control you? If you don't have a partner which would you prefer to have?

I neither have nor hold control over my wife and she doesn't have nor hold control over me. We are equal partners, best friends with a relationship based in mutual respect and trust. To me any relationship where one controls the other is dysfunctional. We will express to one another when we don't agree with or like something, but we still leave it up to individual choice and either accept or deal with it (compromise always works best).
