I don't understand how so many people are unhappy?

Especially those with their basic needs met. We literally have "magical" windows or screens of many sizes that allow us to see images and worlds we only previously dreamed of. This all done at the click of a button or touch of a screen. So much option and access to content in 1st world countries and yet there are plenty or way too many miserable people? 馃

Lack of real intimate relationships/friendships because of social media and being on screens all the time, a lot of disillusionment and apps like tinder pushing a culture of disposable people in a sense.

@Gh0s1 comes to show us that technology and materialism isn't everything. Whilst we advanced in systems and technology we may be lacking in psychological, emotional, and "spiritual" progress. Speaking of the species as a whole.
@Gh0s1 its amazing what that does. Not long ago I seen what I can assume a couple or just friends at a cafe who never talked to each other while I was there observing people. They where on their phones all that time.
I can only wonder that they where texting each other about what to order at this cafe.
They did walk in together and sat at the same table so could not be 2 random people using the same table.
@Robynthebeautiful Exactly, people should leave phones at home when they go out to do stuff like that. Talking to people that aren't even there when there's someone right in front of you. Connected to so many whilst not being connected at all. It's no substitute for the real thing.

@dark548 Yes, we've forgotten the basic needs of life and we're all feeling lost and meaningless as a result. If you really think, is there ever a time where you're not competely over stimulated anymore? I've started to meditate again and it's strange once you realise it's the first time in years you've actually allowed yourself a moment of clarity.
