Why are some people shocked that I dont like birthday cake (please read)?

So on my 17th birthday 6 months ago, I posted a status of me with donutes with my candles on it.
I said, "Yes people. I prefer this over birthday cake. That's right I said it! I don't like birthday cake. Gotta a problem with that? Good! Didn't think so." You know I was being sarcastic but I was being honest. I dont like birthday cake. My friends and best friend laughed and of couse wished me a happy birthday. Some people took it too personal. Well it isn't my problem. I just don't like birthday cake.

This one girl I know lashed out at me for being rude. I was like, "How am I being rude? I was just being honest. Not everyone likes birthday cake. I dont have to like it. So THERE!"
She said I'm very weird and picky. I said, "Well frankly my dear, I dont give a damn."
She got mad and cussed me out so I blocked her. What is wrong with not liking birthday cake? Plus on the status I was trying to be funny. People have no sense of humor but whatever. No harm

Oh my son hates cake and the other hates chocolate. They each have a pie they like. Lemon for one and apple for the other. Made from scratch every year.

I dont understand judging people on their tastes. Gawd it would be boring if we all liked the same thing. Not to mention all the same restaurants... nope I applaud your individuality. 🙌

Absolutely nothing wrong with not liking birthday cake, I don't like tomatoes, someone once said "dress to please others, eat to please yourself"

My daughter had brownies last year and pie this year. It doesn’t bother me. I let the birthday person choose.
