@SomeHand It's the first cyberpunk novel. It's set in a near future where corporations have the power of governments. The main character, who goes by Case, was a hacker for hire who tried to steal money from a client and was poisoned with a toxin that prevents him from getting into the matrix. He takes regular jobs hoping to get killed when he's approached by a mysterious benefactor who fixes him in exchange for helping break into a mansion on an orbital colony and freeing an artificial intelligence.
