Is there such a thing as a social anxiety upset stomach?

I wasn't feeling well most of the day. Then, all of a sudden I felt fine. Now, I am hungry AF. I think it was just some social anxiety acting up even though I've mostly been in self-imposed "solitary confinement" all day. It's just that I don't want to start using social anxiety as some convenient excuse for everything. I just needed time alone, I think.

There absolutely is such a thing (ask me how I know), but you don't need to use it as an excuse. Just know that it is there and learn how to deal.

@IAmJess *Sticks head through office door.* "Hi... it seems like you're busy, but I was told to ask you a question. How do you know?"
@MarkPaul Sorry to leave you hanging there so long, but yeah, I know because I've felt the same way on more than a few occasions.

@IAmJess Oh. I know it seems self-absorbed, but a lot of times (most times) I feel like I am the only one going through "this." So, it's good to know... although I know that sounds terrible because it's obviously not a good feeling for anyone to have.
@MarkPaul True, it's not. But it does help to know we're not singular freaks. Do you know what triggers it in you.

@IAmJess I have suspicions, but it's not precise. There are times when I'm totally fine... even around other people. And, then out of nowhere (like that time a week or so ago) when I literally go into a meltdown and no amount of logic can snap me out of it. I just rely on my will to push through it, but it's hell.
@MarkPaul I've never had the full on melt down, but I know what you're talking about. For me, it's parties, concerts, anytime I'm in a crowd and my personal space collapses.

@IAmJess Yeah, I was being dramatic... you know for the effect. It wasn't really a melt-down... melt-down. I just got worked up, I guess you can say. Yeah...I don't really do that well in crowds, but I am better at handling it. I do try to avoid them though... too much noise.
@MarkPaul I've been asked on here so many times, oh what concerts have you been to? ... Or what ones do you want to go to? How about none and none?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@IAmJess Yeah, concerts aren't for me either. Plus with all the screaming and craziness, you can't really enjoy the music anyway. I don't see the attraction.
@MarkPaul I wouldn't know. Never been and no desire to.

@IAmJess Well, imagine a bunch of screaming idiots with their phones taking pics while the band plays and there just being a lot of noise coming from all directions. It doesn't offer anything pleasurable.
