How come most rich people aren't happy?

Because nobody pets them.

They lose sight of the simple things in life.

Because no matter how much they have it is never enough. And they have to worry about someone taking it all away from them.

Because the real source of happiness is through art and literature and those are all really cheap.

Money can't buy happiness

They have wasted most of there energy and time obtaining their wealth.
They traded their youth for riches and traded there strength for wealth, never really taking time to enjoy the journey we call life.

They have higher standards for everything. I actually think they are much happier and everyone else personally. They just complain a lot

Who says MOST rich people are not happy? The ones I've known generally were happy.

I've known many very wealthy people and they are all very happy well adjusted caring and giving citizens

They have no foundation. Foundation gives you vision and grounds you.

What gives you the idea that most rich people aren't happy? Do you know a lot of rich people?

Because they are old.

Not enough serotonin. Maybe their jobs are stressful. Where did you get the idea that rich people aren't happy?

The Miserable Wealthy Man is largely a modern urban legend that will not die. Probably because it gives some sense of satisfaction, no matter how meager, to the miserably poor.

I have one friend who is wealthy by California standards (I knew her before her parents passed away and left her her money). Since she is known to be “well-off”, she literally doesn’t trust anyone except for a handful of us, friends who have never asked her for anything. She’s just one example, but I could see it being isolating, especially with dating.
