@popmol I am one of the least PC people you will meet...LOL!! I own all the Harry Potter books, BTW...love them. I have read Tolkeins trilogy and the Silmarillion and The Hobbit at least 5 times each. I no longer attend church, but I believe that magic and religion are very similar, in that both use prayer.

cool i'm not a super fan of it but i quite like it. the new movies seem interesting because i love magical creatures and the bigger world and don't really care about harry potter but MORE ABOUT DRAGONS! but nice you love them! (what school are you from? slitherin griffindor, etc?)
i haven't read through them all so much times and only read silmarillion just for the fact that i have other books (dutch books that i absolutely love and read multiple times) about an amazing wizard story and the other is an awesome knight is story like lord of the rings but less hobbity xD
well magic sounds more fun. unless heaven give me a medieval world where i can use magic and there are toilets then it would be better but else i rather have witches who turn people into frogs vampires and DRAGONS!

@popmol Dude. You're smart enough not to put a blanket condemnation on all ordinary people who happen to belong to one of the largest religions in the world. Most Muslims find happiness and community in their faith just like folks in any other religion. The loudmouth bigots and hustlers ruin it just as in any other religion.

You clearly haven't met anyone like the educated, loving friendly Muslims I have, doctors and artists and teachers.
There is wisdom and ignorant bloodlust in every religion, just as there's good and evil in every human heart. I try to remember I can control or change only my own behavior.
I gave up my atheism when I realized it's the most dogmatic religion there is.

ooh i have and i still hate them. i hate any organised religion. they should all burn. they deserve nothing but the worst that life has to offer. one of my best friends is a muslim and on some level i hate him for it :) if it was jsut about not eating pork you could just call them weird vegetarians but thats not it they believe in a god where in the rule book it states kill unbelievers. including you! i don't care what they do make new a religion where they do the same peacefull stuff under another name but even then i t would be organised religion unless they would just say we are just trying to be nice people but then you don't need religion cause theres LAWS for that.

@popmol Your violent fantasies aside, I agree with your evaluation that many religious people are utterly vile. From learning and experience I can assure you it's not all of them, and not even a majority.
I'm still working on my personal anger and hatred issues, so tolerance is an important topic for me. Recently I was at a block party of Hindu Americans, music and dance and tables full of (non-religious) cultural info. There was a wild-eyed dude doing Jeezis's work by strutting around, carrying a big posterboard on which he'd scrawled harsh words about non-Christians burning in Hell. I caught his eye, smiled, and calmly said: "You're confusing your rod below" (pointing to my pants) "with God above. That sign is nothing but your damn pride. You know that." I neither know nor care what he thought of my little sermon, but I'm pretty sure such talk might be more effective than spitting on him.

Please remember outrageous idiotic violence is not limited to one religious faith.
