My daughters can live with me until they are married. It is financially the smartest thing you could do. If they choose to move out I wouldn't stop them though. The boys will have several years in their twenties that I will let them live at home to prepare themselves by saving up, though I will want them to eventually move out and prepare themselves and their future home for the family they will one day have. But I am a barbaric savage that believes in statistics about success and crime and want to have my kids grow up healthy and happy so I will impress upon them more traditional values.

I live with my grandparents at the moment, but the situation is a little different. I take care of them. Grandpa has Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. 🙁

$500 a month? I'm not surprised she's still at home. Sharing a 3 bdrm house here with 2 others, rent + utilities is $500/month each, and if you're blowing your whole paycheck on rent, how the hell do you survive for food and transport? IDK, maybe you live in some deep rural area where rent is a hell of a lot less, but otherwise I suspect you just have no scale of idea of how expensive it is to live.

Or are you saying she should parasite off friends & not contribute her fair share? because that always ends well.

If her parents are prepared to support her through college like this, being a judgemental asshole about it only makes you look bad.

@TeenGirl01 OK, fair enough

My parents would be sad if I ever moved out. 😔
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@TeenGirl01 That’s true but they would worry a lot more if they came home and I wasn’t there. Right?

My kids lived with me until after college. Adulting is expensive and life sucks intil you have a career instead of an hourly job.

Well, you also gotta buy food, pay bills on top of rent, car/car insurance, phone bill, health insurance if she has it, and lots of other minor expenses. She's at least going to college and working, which is better than just sitting at home. Some people take a awhile to move out depending on their situation.

Bruh, living alone ain't cheap. You gotta eat, too. Can't spend all your money on freaking rent. If anything, it's good that they're staying home while in school. When I'm older, I'm planning on having my mother live with me. Because of Asian values or whatever.

Rent here is a minimum of about $700-800 a month.

@TeenGirl01 Actually, that is quite reasonable.

Not necessarily. Everyone is different.

In my area $500.00 will get you just a room.

@TeenGirl01 I'm disabled and they worry about me. And I live a thousand miles away from them.
