Straight guys, would you give another guy mouth to mouth in order to save their lives?

rckt148 · 61-69, M
yes and I have many times
I was not kissing them ,I was saving their lives
Yeah that's pretty sad if you let sometime die because your afraid of being homosexual especially when mouth to mouth is not a sexual act anyway
ZenKitzune · F
I would say that it would be ridiculous not to but people are ridiculous.
GardenSage · 36-40, M
When I was 18, me and my 2 best friends were lifeguards. We were on vacation in Florida during a tropical storm and we saw a man who was swimming and calling for help.. we all swam out and were able to find him because his leg was tied to a bogey board. Getting him back to the shore he wasn’t breathing. All 3 of us took turns giving him chest compressions and artificial respiration. My friend Michael was the one who revived him. He went to the hospital and fully recovered. We were in the local newspaper that day.

God my 4th graders ask this all the time😂
DragonFruit · 61-69, M
It would be ridiculous to not resuscitate because you feared it would possibly appear like a homosexual act.
33person · 26-30, M
This may be sexist, but most men I know of have breath that smells like death. And I have a weak stomach. So I would try my hardest, but if I throw up, it will fail.
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@33person I got that ,and all I was saying is I am sure when push come to shove unless you were just cold hearted ,you would shake it off and do what was needed .I have no doubt that you would do what was needed just by what you said
and I think you would overcome the need to vomit ,
I was not picking at you by any means ,,I pray you are not put in that position ,
but should you be ,I am sure you would overcome any blocks
and if you know what to do ,,all will be fine
sorry if you misunderstood or took it any other way
I was not knocking you AT ALL
33person · 26-30, M
@rckt148 It's not a matter of shaking anything off. It is a matter of overcoming my need to vomit. I hope I would. I really do.
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@33person young man ,I pray for you that you never have to know
when its life or death we stop thinking of anything else
the things we are trained to do kicks in and you do what needs to be done
I can tell from this you have Never been there ,or you would know I never said it was something you have to shake off ,,,,
Its something you don't even think about
all you know is that person is in trouble and if you know how you help .
I promise you ,,if you are ever in that position
you will do whatever and what you normally would or would not do won't be a factor .
I was not trying to make something out of this other than to say
If that situation ever comes up ,,I am sure you will be just fine
When I started doing search and rescue at 17 ,there were a lot of things I never thought I could ever do ,like go into a fire of my own free will
But after the first few you stop thinking about it at all
you just do what you were trained to do ...
If you are even in that position ,I am sure you will be fine
if you know what to do ,that will be the only thing on your mind
"I have to save them " and thats all ,not anything you normally do
this will be the least normal day of your life ,you will turn into superman

Fortunately we don't have to because if you want to do artificial respiration the right way you have to do it from mouth to nose. :)
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@SW-User Now days that are teaching not to do it at all just do chest compressions ,
but I was trained in the Coast Guard and saved many many lives with the technique I was trained to do ,
many times when someone has drowned they also vomit ,
clearing the airway is critical and just compression alone would not help especially if the air way is obstructed .
We have changed off doing CPR for over an hour and the patient lived
I am not debating who is right or who is wrong ,all I can tell you is we have lots of experience ,and on my watch ,we lost very few
and I would say on this subject ,our record speaks for itself ,
Since most of the time we don't get to hear if they made it or not I never tried to actually count how many people we saved ,
But when they make a point to track you down so they can thank you personally ,
That is the greatest feeling on earth
especially when some sad let them go ,your flogging a corpse ,no one will know
I would ,and I got to say "Fogging a corpse "? more than once
We do our jobs until someone more qualified than us tells us to stop ,end of story ,now do your damn job ,and they did ,
Except if the shipmate happens to be a black person
most of my shipmates of color would not do CPR with a gun to their heads ,
they have a thing about dead people ,or the ones I have dealt with anyway

@rckt148 all respect for you. Really. 👍

I'm not a professional at all, I just know that in my country they teach to do it from mouth to nose, not mouth to mouth. This topic is about the homophobic nature of a mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and my answer for this issue was to do the mouth-to-nose if you have concerns.
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@SW-User the only time I have ever done mouth to nose is with a small child
I know the way they train this stuff today has changed ,
my daughters are nurses and many times they have told me they are glad I told them the way I was trained ,the crap they were taught would have cost lives
Like an airway obstructed
With the fear of HIV many things have changed ,
They were trained to never do mouth to mouth without a guard ,(plastic that goes between the lips
But we have procedures we do every time ,its done in seconds
we support the neck after doing the check list ,pinch the nose ,
seal mouth to mouth and watch the chest ,
small child close off the mouth and breaths into the nose
infants its puff in the nose
all of them watching the chest
I am not concerned with HIV ,,I am concerned with saving a life and I have
As long as I live I will do what I know from experience works
they can teach others how ever they want
For over 200 yrs the Coast Guard has been saving lives
I was part of a 3 man team on the Worlds Busiest Search and Rescue station
so I have saved a few lives ,
but I do get the techniques have changed ,but as for me
I will continue to do what works ,and I will be covered ,
and if its Gods will ,they will live to see another day
and likewise ,my utmost respect for you 🖖
Well yeah i don't need to get a boner over it.

You’d have to be a douche not to.
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
Kinda my job....but we have much better tools at our disposal anyway so the odds of me actually having to do that are low.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@Xuan12 everyone should have one of those enclosure cups paramedics have. No one wants bile in their mouth 🤢
MenzernaSF4000 · 36-40, M
@Xuan12 What kind of tools?
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
@MenzernaSF4000 Thing like bag-valve masks come to mind immediately, I have at least 1 within 100 feet of me nearly all the time. It can be attached to supplemental oxygen too, and provide much more effective breathing than mouth to mouth for that reason. If need be, we also have automated ventilation devices.
JordanAlorow · 26-30, M
if a persons life is on line i thin I can throw away social wierdness to save their life?

Would you let them live or die?
Billybob2 · 26-30, M
@JordanAlorow I let them live, I gave them the mouth to mouth.
texasdaddydom · 51-55, M
you would have to be a real homophobe to even ask this, mouth to mouth is not a sexual act it is a life saving one
Omg i love this *clap hands*
