Yes - in every conceivable way.
Tracos · 51-55, M
have you ever been to Singapore? Or Japan?
Arzawa · 31-35, M
@Tracos You mean Singapore that was founded as a British trade city and Japan which was rebuilt by the US after WW2?
Tracos · 51-55, M
Yes... Those... Have you ever been there?
Arzawa · 31-35, M
@Tracos Singapore Yes, Japan no. Singapore isn't a purely Asian society.

I agree. And I found the mix fascinating.

With billions of people I think there is no clear example of Western or Asian or African or middle eastern civilization.

Rome has a completely different vibe then Oslo or Amsterdam or Los Angeles
Arzawa · 31-35, M
@Tracos culture is different than civlization. Both Rome and Oslo descend from Greek>Roman>Christian civilization.

Not sure that the Norwegian people agree with that :)

But would that be the definition of Western Civilization?

The quintessential Italian pasta was brought to Italy from China by Marco Polo...
Algebra was developed in Persia
Even the names of most named stars have no Western origin.

I feel civilizations are mixed by (human) nature. Always evolving. And therefore not distinct.
