Is Western Civilization superior to other civilizations?

GoodoldBob · 61-69, M Best Comment
It was but in recent decades it has been in rapid decay.

Well, it's the only civilization that managed to take over much of the world, so by that scale it is.
Tracos · 51-55, M
I think that there are too many different cultures within the so-called Western Civilization to make a statement on that...

Even the criteria for superiority are highly subjective...

I'm happy with where we are now, but I hope it will keep evolving and be enriched by all kinds new of new influences

they have a higher standard of living but people are the same across the board

@Arzawa you obviously dont know everything that WC kills..
Arzawa · 31-35, M
@SW-User no clue. Africans.
SW-User
I'm one of them
At what timeline you asking the question?
@Arzawa now. Technologically yes but as per civilization it self i'm not very sure because nowadays is the era of globalization, i dont see civilization that very different one and another. Not like old civilization that every one of them can easily distinguish but now everyone wear the same acer laptop, same prada, same gucci, eat same kfc, same pizza hut. There is blurry national identity nowadays except phisical features

@YukikoAmagi While our consumer cultures are mixing, I would say that the base social cultures are indeed intact. In Pakistan a female member of your family can be raped for an offense caused by a member of your family to another family.
@Arzawa but i think it's gradually fade away too because our younger generations are too familiar with the same youtube and other social media, value has shift greatly, when i was a kid i really respect and obey my parents so did mu parents to my grandparents but now my daughter easily argue with me

Yes - in every conceivable way.
Tracos · 51-55, M
I agree. And I found the mix fascinating.

With billions of people I think there is no clear example of Western or Asian or African or middle eastern civilization.

Rome has a completely different vibe then Oslo or Amsterdam or Los Angeles
Arzawa · 31-35, M
@Tracos culture is different than civlization. Both Rome and Oslo descend from Greek>Roman>Christian civilization.
Tracos · 51-55, M
Not sure that the Norwegian people agree with that :)

But would that be the definition of Western Civilization?

The quintessential Italian pasta was brought to Italy from China by Marco Polo...
Algebra was developed in Persia
Even the names of most named stars have no Western origin.

I feel civilizations are mixed by (human) nature. Always evolving. And therefore not distinct.

@FelixLegion Western Civilization was Superior to most during the classical era and reigned supreme from the age of discovery,

It's different. I'm happy within it because women get more freedom and respect.

Western civilization is suppressing others from progressing. is that 'superior'?
hlpflwthat · M
Does it matter? :)
Arzawa · 31-35, M

Arzawa · 31-35, M

@Arzawa i dont know why. But cant you see it why??? Right now and always. Most money is invested into West so it seems superior...but illusion will burst like a bubble soon
Arzawa · 31-35, M
@SW-User You don't write logically.
