Do you give money to homeless people when asked?
I always say sorry I only have plastic and walk away. That's not true because I do carry some cash but they don't know that.

well, this thread got heated right off the bat.
i don't give money to beggars on the roadside (the only place i see them), because: 1) i actually never carry any cash. cash is dirty. 2) it's illegal to give them money where i live. this law was passed two years ago. it's not illegal to beg, but it is illegal to give them money or food. they're trying to direct all needs to proper facilities. 3) there are several facilities (as i mentioned) in my community that feed and shelter the homeless. and i do donate goods and money twice a year.

@DarkHeaven i have only ever had 3 cellphones in my life, and the two i don't have now did go to a women's shelter. i found out about the idea trying not to toss them in the trash. the second one could have been sold, actually, but i decided to turn it into an opportunity to make myself feel like a good person.

and i like the idea of extending the life of a purchase. i hate tossing things in landfills. i'd love to say that i'm completely altruistic, but i'm not gonna lie. the whole idea of donating cellphones to women and children in danger is a great one for [b]so[/b] many reasons.
