I dunno, honestly, on the one hand I see why it would seem right to get rid of people who are in this country from somewhere else who can't support themselves. But at the same time, then would we get rid of people who are US citizens who also can't support themselves?

@BlueMetalChick Yeah true, but the argument could be made one is born here and the other chose to come here. The idea of birthright does have some legit consideration.

Problem with this short statement is it doesn't factor in whether it is someone conning to live off the system or just someone who is in a temporary hard place.

@BlueMetalChick If you can find a way to get rid of poor people, I'm all ears.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@MethDozer True. I know that from experience. I only came to the US because no other country would grant me asylum from war. I worked jobs and tried to go to school but even if I owned property and paid taxes, I was pretty much told to fuck off and die. It took me about six months to get going well here in Chicago.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SuicideBiProxy2 Well there's a lot of things we can do to make them not be poor anymore.
StokedFox · 36-40, F
@MethDozer I agree with all this. I do feel empathy for them, their country is terrible and they want a better life for their kids. I work with a lot of Hispanic people. They're from a different planet almost. They don't navigate our culture because they were taught very differently.

At the same time a lazy asshole can pull on your heart strings and suck you dry. That's happened to me before. One guy I work with is Mexican, he said his people are savages.
SuicideBiProxy2 · 36-40, M
@BlueMetalChick Euthanasia? What a horrible thing to suggest. Why Chicago? Why not go to a city that would be easier to survive?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@StokedFox I came from Yemen to find a better life. I tried finding my way through Europe but pretty much everyone hates Gypsies so I was treated as a second class citizen and told to go die in a hole. So I came here to America because everyone thinks a Gypsy is just that carnival machine that turned Tom Hanks into an adult in "Big."

@BlueMetalChick Glad you made it. Despite our crop.of assholes trying to ruin it for ya'.
SuicideBiProxy2 · 36-40, M
@BlueMetalChick Are you a Roma? I didn't know there were Roma in Yemen. Nobody likes Gypsies in Europe for a reason. They have built a culture of thievery. Every major city has problems with them. Especially where tourists are concerned.
MethDozer · M
@StokedFox I've seen both sides but the vast majority of Central Americans and Caribeans I have met ate some of the hardest working people and the most embracing of our culture I have come across. I'm not going to deny some very, very bad eggs exist in that group but honestly I can't say I have experienced that as the norm. On the flip side some of the laziest and entitled immigrants I have ever seen came from Western Europe to work in some priviledged sector. So.....
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SuicideBiProxy2 There aren't any Roma in Yemen, I just happened to be born there out of bad luck while my parents were traveling. And we got stuck because the Yemeni Civil War devastated the city we were living in.

We've built up a culture of thievery because centuries ago, when we first migrated into Europe, we didn't understand the concept of land ownership. In Romani culture, there's no such thing as "owning" land. So we didn't get that we couldn't just live on any land that nobody was using. Which made the Europeans angry at us, but we didn't get why they were angry, so we got angry at them. And then they didn't wanna let us live in their cities, so we lived outside the cities and started stealing from them out of spite. And you can see where it goes from there.
StokedFox · 36-40, F
@MethDozer yeah many that I know work very hard. Two and three jobs, sending money home so their families have shoes. We are people. All deserving of kindness.
SuicideBiProxy2 · 36-40, M
@BlueMetalChick I'm not saying there are no historical reasons for it. However that culture continues. Europeans have developed centuries of hatred toward Gypsies. When in the Czech Republic, I saw walls being built around them. In Italy, I saw the cops beat pickpockets with batons.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SuicideBiProxy2 Walls being built around us? Uhhhh...are you sure that was legit? Because that would cause sooooo much conflict if that ever happened.

The pickpocket thing makes sense. We're known for fucking with the cops pretty bad. There was a trend in France for a while of Gypsies sticking aerosol cans in the gas tanks of cop cars to cause them to pop really loud and fuck up the gas intake on the car.
SuicideBiProxy2 · 36-40, M
@BlueMetalChick Yes, there was a neighborhood they built a wall around a small slum.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SuicideBiProxy2 I'm shocked there wasn't a huge court case over it. Maybe they intended to leave the land anyway.
SuicideBiProxy2 · 36-40, M
@BlueMetalChick Eastern Europe. They probably starved to death behind the wall.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SuicideBiProxy2 I sincerely doubt that. Nobody sits idly by while a construction crew erects a wall around you to force you to starve to death.
MethDozer · M
@BlueMetalChick eh, who knows? You make a good point but maybe there was a line of AKMs and scorpion pistols.
SuicideBiProxy2 · 36-40, M
@BlueMetalChick Sure they do. You give people too much credit. Hitler told the Jews he was coming for him. He wrote a book about it. He held marches. When the Nazis passed their anti-Jewish laws, they still did nothing.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SuicideBiProxy2 Having lived in Gypsy camps before, I have way too much experience with this to ever believe that a bunch of Romani are gonna sit around and say "Oh well, they're building a wall. I guess we'll just sit here and die."
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@MethDozer There would be an international scandal if that happened. And why not just shoot them instead of spending the money to build a giant wall?
MethDozer · M
@BlueMetalChick I want to call BS on it too,but then again this fucked up shit tends to be somewhat true when I do.
