Yes. A couple of years ago, when I became very ill and helpless, I did ask for help. Most of my friends were either unable or unwilling to help. One friend stood by me and saved my life. Another would've but she wasn't physically up to it. The rest just backed off, even long time friends. Now...I think I would find it harder than ever to ask for help of any kind.
