My wife and I don't have a lot of expensive things, but a lot of what we do have has great sentimental value. We aren't necessarily materialistic but we are quite proud of our things we have collected during our lives individually and our life together. There would be no excuse for such behavior, and we would not tolerate it in the least regardless if it was a good friend of ours or a family member. The level of closeness we felt toward them would take a very sharp drop on the scale. Like I said...our stuff is not of great monetary value, but a lot of it is rare, old, and/or irreplaceable. Any person who would do that would not ever be welcomed into our home again.
