What is the difference between Friends, Followers and Circle

If I add you I'm a follower of you. If you then add me we are friends. My circle includes both friends and followers

I believe followers are people that have added you but your haven't added them back. Circles are people you added but they haven't added you back and friends are you added them and they added you.

friends are who you have accepted to your circle, followers are those who would like to be in your circle but who you haven't yet accepted
