Everyone supports gun control. It just differs where you draw the line. Most people think citizens shouldn't be allowed to own nukes. Or chemical weapons. Or anti-tank missiles, or artillery, or Gatling guns. So it's not a discussion about whether gun control should or shouldn't exist, just where the restrictions are.
@BlueMetalChick This is a very interesting point. Many products can be turned into weapons of mass destruction, even if they wee made with a different purpose in mind. The goal ought to be to maximize the benefits of these products while minimizing the downsides. There are no shortage of regulations in this country that aim to do just this. (There is also a long long list of gun control laws and regulations.) It is important for the government to study whether such laws or regulations actually work as intended otherwise we aren't doing any of ourselves any good. And any new laws or regulations ought to be studied periodically for the same reason.

@BiasForAction To make gun laws is one thing, to enforce them is another. Look at my city. We have some of the strictest gun laws in the country, but zero enforcement. We can make all the laws we want but if we don't have anyone to make sure those laws are followed, they won't work. It is so absurdly easy to buy a gun in the city of Chicago, you don't need to show a license, a permit, an ID, you can exchange cash for the gun and walk right out, no questions asked.
@BlueMetalChick I have always thought it is silly to pass a law that won't be or can't be enforced.

@BiasForAction The ATF here is run by the mob. So it's a right bit pointless.
@BlueMetalChick Chicago has cleaned up its act since Al Capone, eh?

@BiasForAction Most of the mob is in financial crimes now, racketeering and political manipulation, not the murder and jewel theft they used to.
@BlueMetalChick Thats where the money is
