The idea of an open relationship strikes a chord in some people who have been cheated on or lied to, it seems from what I've read on these boards. So their reaction (what they write) can be very angry.
It's not easy to have an open relationship and takes more communication than most types. Obviously, it's not for everyone; I wouldn't recommend it and didn't know many long-term couples who tried it that had a super healthy relationship.

@CoffeeFirst Maybe it's just that we have been primed for so ling to think that monogamy is the only way to go. I think it will likely become more prevalent as people learn how to make it work.

@ZenKitzune I think a lot more people think that they can make it work than will actually be successful at it. But that's just my experience. Younger people are more open to the idea these days, I do know that.
