I'll never understand why people get angry at other people's preferences when it comes to relationships

The open relationship idea seems to make a lot of people mad.

I think you may misunderstand ... The anger comes about because you are challenging what they have been bought up, what they believe to be "the Way" ... Most people get uncomfortable having their thinking challenged ..

@ozgirl512 That doesn't mean they can't live and let live.

@NankerPhelge that depends on how challenged they feel in their thinking

@ozgirl512 What is wrong for one person may be right for another. How is it any of one person's business what sort of relationships another person prefers anyway? I'm as fixed in my own ways as anybody could be, but I really couldn't care less about other people's relationships. In other words, live and let live. What about that is "challenging" to someone else's way of thinking?

@NankerPhelge Some people are just rigid in their thinking. Sometimes people react negatively to anything that reflects part of them that they are trying to deny or distance themselves from. It can be completely unconscious.

@ZenKitzune I'm rigid in my thinking, yet I see no reason to react negatively to something that's none of my business in the first place. How is another person's relationships affecting me in any way? 🤔

@NankerPhelge Like I said, it's unconscious.
