The slaves were freed by the republicans.

In accordance with their philosophy:
Personal and financial freedom and independence.

The democrats wanted to keep slavery.. in accordance with their philosophy: you are a helpless victim and need to be taken care of (as long as you work/vote for us)

These philosophies haven’t changed.

Democrats were southern conservatives back then.

Republicans were liberals. Some republicans were actually called radicals for their opposition to the Mexican war, to slavery, and pro african ameeican voting rights.

Nobody believes that. That’s some liberal folklore shit.

I literally just outlined why that folklore is false. That’s literally what this post is. @SW-User

@GardenSage that's literally history. You are distorting history to fit your political agenda. Don't be that guy.

@SW-User in what book? What day did the parties flip? Who all changed sides? How come nobody can pinpoint those things.
SW-User
@GardenSage in every book ever. The parties flipped over the years. This is not a tv show, real life is complicated, slow and intertwined with many things.

@SW-User the philosophies haven’t changed as I pointed out.
SW-User
@GardenSage those were not the philosophies at the time. Republicans wanted to guard the slaves which they did with the army. Republicans were what remaines of the federalist party. The party of the federal government. Democrats wanted the army out and freaking seceded over States rights.

the political spectrum is a constant.

Only the government moves around it.
The philosophies remain consistent. You can’t parry around it.

Liberals try because they are in denial about what that philosophy means for them.

You’re a slave bro

@GardenSage philosophies do not remain constant. Nothing remains constant. The world and people are ever shifting. The philosophy itself might remain the same, but the people change. Governments change as well as constituents. If things were constant this world would be a lot more simple.

@SW-User ok... well
You’re wrong.

The spectrum IS a constant, like spacetime, like death, like mass and energy... like the spectrum of light- it starts with infrared and ends in ultraviolet.... you cannot add. You cannot take away.

Like I said it’s the government (the people) who move around the spectrum..
