How do you get over someone who is toxic but you still love?

@ImTheOne ....🙄. Why? Because we both persevered over letting toxic people rule us? Because we refused to give toxic people complete power over us when they didn’t even deserve to share a breath of the same air as us? Naw, hunny. That don’t deserve our ounce of our time when it’s decided that life is better without them. There’s no love lost there. There’s nothing left to hold onto and we simply move forward with our bruises...which will heal... our wounded heart...which will also heal...and the knowledge to be able to spot it quicker next time.

@ImTheOne I meant ignorant to the internal effects a toxic relationship can bring.

The first love can be hard to get over because it was the first time our heart experienced Love on that level, but if they turned out to be toxic then you really shouldn’t hold onto the cord that connects their heart to yours. They don’t deserve to be connected to you if they caused you pain. Sever it and the healing will begin.
