Does the president of the United States have to be a Christian?

JFK was Roman Catholic and both Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Johnson did not identify with any religion. Every other president however has been Christian.

@JustKelly Roman Catholic is Christian. But yes, Thomas Jefferson is a famous Deist. As in, he believed there was a God but that it was a distant and impersonal entity that did not interfere in day to day events.

@Mountainlady16 Your branch of Christianity does not get to determine what a true Christian is. And they can find just as much biblical support for themselves being Christians as you can find for your own case. The smaller groups just throw that claim out of jealousy because Catholicism is the largest and most powerful Christian denomination in the world and they want to leech followers.
