yes, in certain circumstances hope is horrible. like hoping for something you know will never happen. I'm not a big fan of hope, either I can make it happen or I don't think about it. I never buy lottery tickets or gamble, I don't hold my hands together and hope luck will come my way, if I want something I go get it, if its out of reach I move to something else.

@reflectingmonkey Yes. I get this, but while I'm working towards what I want, I hope for a positive outcome.

@Serenitree being focused improves the probability of a good outcome and yes, I guess there is some hope involved I just don't like the idea of the outcome of my life depending on some passive wishing.

@reflectingmonkey Neither do I. I stopped with the passive wishing when I discovered Santa was a fantasy. I work for what I want. But, I never want to lose hope again. It made me suicidal. I felt that everything I might do, wouldn't make anything better. I need hope.

@Serenitree I see what you're saying, in that sense I agree, I just prefer to call it believing in my ability to make things happen. I guess I'm also a bit frustrated at the word hope because the one thing i cannot control, finding true love, has not happened.
