you absolutely did the right thing. People like that will always take advantage

BondGirl84 · 36-40, F
no u did nothing wrong - that's the thing tho with some people they take kindness as a weakness & then take advantage, glad u had the courage & confidence to get rid of him in the end - it is hard to trust some people tho, in the future have a better screening process b4 u help others - might be harsh but i found that's the way to go for me!
Cincyatl · 51-55, M
It was time for him to go. Years ago my ex-wife asked if we could help out her friend and husband as they were being evicted and just needed a place for no more than 2 weeks while they look for a another place. 3 months later I had enough. I actually wanted to throw them out 2 months prior but wife pulled on my heart strings. But the fact that these two never looked for a place and never once offered to pay any kind of rent I just couldn't take it any longer and told my wife it was either them 2 or me. Will never ever do that again.

LJW35 · 41-45, F
@bhatjc Mocher!!!!!!!!! great word and very fitting :-)
bhatjc · 46-50, M
@LJW35 I have some relatives like that to. Having so support them ,while barely scapping by
Rain plus they come in and have no regard for your personal things, they eat up all the good food and leave you the crumbs, make messes everywhere and leave them.. sheesh I could go on forever here but I will stop..😆 I hear ya -- you did the only thiing and the right thing..

If youre homeless youre not goung to just "stay the night" somewhere youre going to stay as long as a person allows. You allowed him to stay so he did.
LJW35 · 41-45, F
Thanks everyone ! Its not a situation I will be getting myself into again! Lesson learnt !:-)
LJW35 · 41-45, F
Aww Sbelle - sisters eh? I haven't spoke to mine in nearly 3 months now ! but that's another story lol!

Wow. No, you were totally in the right here. I can't believe he would treat you so badly after you helped him out.
been there a couple of times myself so I speak from experience Rain.
we all do it sometimes - I had to pudh my sister out the back door literally😆
Selah ·
You were wrong to let him stay at all.
Better late than never.

you did the right thing
I think it was great that you tried to help. But maybe make it clear from the get-go that it wasn't suppose to be anything permanent. That might have helped a little. But forget him for calling you names.
ogginawa · 41-45, F
you did the right thing. he was so disrespectful and ungrateful. he should be ashamed of himself.
No u did right thing he 38 grow up
lizzielost · F
No, you're not too harsh - no one should have to put up with behaviour like that. But I hope you will not be discouraged from looking kindly on people in the future.
LJW35 · 41-45, F
@SBelle - you got it in one ! I have most definitely learned my lesson :-)
LunaWolf · M
“Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you." Mathew 7:6

That doesn't mean that everyone is unworthy and some would be forever grateful to you. You were not wrong, he was.
LJW35 · 41-45, F
YEs @ LuckyBird - don't I know it!
I am guessing that this guy is on SW, because there is one "yes" vote. I put up a family of 3 in one of my rentals and said stay for 30 days...they are still there 6 months later....please take care of that for me. LOL
Users and losers -- lesson learned😐
Picklebobble · 56-60, M
It was a shitty end to a shitty situation.
You did the right thing.
I've been homeless and it truly sucks!
But I've (hopefully!) never outstayed my welcome anywhere!
Every half decent place on earth has a system if you find yourself homeless.
Granted. Many shelters and even shared houses are awful environments to have to live in!
And keeping yourself safe can drive you to paranoia if you let it !!
But you have to use it positively!!
I'm sure he'll be alright.
melbeacher · 61-69, M
No you were not too harsh at all. You opened your home to do him a favor and he was trying to take advantage of you. You have a heart of gold !
ron122 · 41-45, M
It's too bad it turned out that way. You did something nice and he took advantage of you. Sounds like he is a bum with no ambition at all. Your a good person for trying to help, you should feel good about yourself
bhatjc · 46-50, M
Hell no miss raingirl. He should have treated you with respect. I hope you told your other friend about that couch hopper
SW-User
The only way you were in the wrong was not standing your ground when he broke the original agreement he made with you. But if he was someone who deserved any form of sympathy, he would of made all the effort to get his shit together but instead he took advantage of your compassion and generosity.
SW-User
He was lucky to get away with just that. What a bludger and low life he is for taking advantage of the situation. I would have physically thrown them out on the street and hope a car hit both of them
