How about BOTH.

I read a good point the other day by someone they said" when you can explain to me where black people come from when Adam and Eve were both white, I'll come into church"...that made me smile..Evolution is definitely more plausible for me..

Yeah I've never believed in the Adam and eve story. I think multiple races were created, then we evolve from there

@Primnproper I had an interesting discussion with a man from Kenya. He asked me what colour Adam and Eve were. I replied honestly that I did not know. He said they had to have been black. I asked how he came to that conclusion and he replied "because they were made from dirt and I have never seen white dirt". I replied so the word Adam means "From the red dirt" Does that change your opinion?

Humans have been around for at least hundreds of thousands of years. We don't have stories of cavemen, so how did we come up with this Adam and eve story? There's even evidence that humans may have been here millions of years ago. How did the story of the first people on earth even reach us? It's all made up.

@hippyjoe1955 I've never gone with the creation point for me it's just a story with no substance..
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Primnproper I used to feel the same way until I realized the evolution story is pure bunkum. It simply requires too much faith to believe in evolution.

@hippyjoe1955

1. organisms produce more offspring that can survive

2. variations occur among individuals of a species

3. variations are passed from parent to offspring

4. some variations help individuals survive and reproduce better than others

5. over time the more helpful variations become more common in a population

Which of these do you feel to be 'pure bunkum'?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@newjaninev2 Nice statement of faith. I don't share it.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@hippyjoe1955 Nice failure to in any way support your initial claim (with bonus points for ignoring every point I raised)

As I recall, this is the point where you attempt to mask your failure by resorting to insults. So tediously predictable.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@newjaninev2 You haven't supported your point except to put up a statement of faith. We already agree that we don't agree. I don't accept your statement of faith and you don't accept mine. Move along.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@hippyjoe1955 Oh, are you really hoping to deflect and divert with your usual copy-pasted, generic, one-size-fits-all, meaningless pap?

Try actually addressing the tenets I posted, try explaining why you claim them to be 'bunkum', and while you at it, note that I didn't attempt to make any point, if you're going to fall back onto your stock of tired old word-soup, at least make it relevant and germane.

So, try again... in what way are the tenets I posted 'bunkum'? In what way are the tenets I posted a 'statement of faith'? (given that faith is merely pretending to know something that you do not in fact know)
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@newjaninev2 No I am simply being honest. In your faith you see non-created non-directed forces bringing about all that we see and know. I look at the same evidence you hold as proof of your theory and I see that the universe is finely designed and tuned Creation. The fluidity of which is simply further evidence of a Truly Great Creator. Having once been on you side I now have pity on your truncated view point.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@hippyjoe1955 So, just more copy-pasted, generic, one-size-fits-all, meaningless pap?
...the same evidence you hold as proof of your theory
We haven't so much as touched upon evidence... what are you talking about? (incidentally, even high-school students understand that science never seeks proof for its Theories).

If you concentrate... really make an effort this time... you might be able to at least come close to addressing the topic. Perhaps. I'm not confident that you'll manage it, but please make the effort.

Just to remind you... in what way are the tenets I posted 'bunkum'? In what way are the tenets I posted a 'statement of faith'?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@newjaninev2 You posted how many points as 'proof' of your faith. I look at the same evidence and conclude it is proof of my faith. The only difference is that at the end of life I will be going to a place of great joy and eternal love. You will just cease to exist. Nice faith you have there. I out grew that nonsense decades ago.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@hippyjoe1955 So, you opted for just more pap.

Some might be disappointed by your inability to stay on topic, by your inability to reply coherently and meaningfully, by your inability to say anything that isn't just a chant of self-serving, self-interested, unsupported claims, by your inability to discuss those claims in a reasoned manner, by your inability to avoid pretence and deception... but they would be people who are not familiar with your history.

Actually, I won't even repeat my questions.
Run along... you are dismissed.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@newjaninev2 Most would say you are foolish for trying to win this debate. What is the point? In a few years you will be gone and your thoughts with you. Life according to you is little more than being born, eating, scronking and dying. There is no purpose. All your 'intellectual inquiry is empty. There is no point to your world view beyond nothingness. You want it you can have it. I moved on years ago.
