I think it is because it makes us uncomfortable and when we are uncomfortable we over react. I think the idea is rather distasteful for many of us and so it makes us more uncomfortable.

But you are right it should be a complement.

Interesting how straight men bothered by men dating have no problem with lesbians. 🤔

@SapphicHeart Double standards abound. Humans are strange creatures.

@LyricalOne
It goes both ways at times. Sadly.

@Waymore
I can't tell you why. It's by no means very logic. I do have met a few women who loved the idea of seeing two men together, but they are rare.

They are analphobic. 🙊

I've been chatted up twice by guys lol. And I wasn't rude at all. I just politely told them I wasnt gay and then continued to engage in a good convo with one of them. Everyone to their own I say. As long as u don't touch kids. Hurt the old or vulnerable then ur fine in my books.

ahhh, not me :)

It's not a problem...unless it's like a muscle-y, tall, balding guy with a thick beard that doesn't know what personal space is. 😂😂

I don't have any attraction towards males, but I don't have a problem if they like me, as long as they don't get too creepy about it.
abe182 · 46-50, M
I'm going to speak very plainly. Might even be controversial. I can see women liking women, women are beautiful, soft, smell good all that. But to choose a dude over a woman.... This boggles most men's minds and obviously some females too. It's not a fear men have its just some men are just grossed out. OK you can kill me now.
There are a lot of male gay predators on college campuses that will act on flirting.
It is much smarter to establish personal boundaries based on your own values then being passive and just letting the "flirter" create them for you. It is why a lot of sexual assault happens to both men and women by flirters like that.

To be fair, a lot of women are just as offended by men trying to pick them up. Just a fear thing perhaps.
PlumBerries · 31-35, F
[c=#7700B2]but women don't try fighting or hurting said men who try picking them up[/c]

@PlumBerries you only said "get defensive" I was replying to what you wrote.

[c=#7700B2]I also wrote "doing the oh so macho stereotype overreaction"[/c]

When I first attracted make attention on EP I was flustered and flattered...
you're right about the macho over-reaction, probably trying to keep any emotions the feel at bay ? 😉

Well said!! I take it as a compliment. Now if they continue to flirt after knowing I'm straight, then it becomes a problem.
tinyweeny · 70-79, M
its fear ..got to keep up that macho macho....but i must say it has never happen to me .
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
It goes against everything they've been bought up to believe...

They could be a homophobe. Or... maybe they were just caught by surprise.
Myself11 · 61-69, M
It doesn't bother me I find it flattering
