why do some males get so defensive if someone of the same gender flirts with them and tries picking them up?

just take it as a compliment that someone thinks of you like that. could just simply say you are flattered but straight.. instead of doing the oh so macho steryotype overreaction lol... just a thought

I think it is because it makes us uncomfortable and when we are uncomfortable we over react. I think the idea is rather distasteful for many of us and so it makes us more uncomfortable.

But you are right it should be a complement.
