Would you say that Gastric-Bypass is "worth it"?

I'm not getting it or anything but most of the people I know that got it came out with more problems than when they were overweight.

@SW-User 1/3 sounds about right.

@SW-User I read some crazy statistic that like 80% of people who get gastric bypass end up getting divorced after the surgery.

Honestly, I know a few people who have gotten them. None of them now look any healthier. A few look thinner, but not in a healthy way, like they lost too much weight too quickly.

@Pherick yea, one of the guys I know that got it...is way skinnier but he had to quit his job because he's always getting these stomach pains.
it was worth it for me. in fact i'd like a secondary revision to lose any remaining that i have left. i needed it when i got it. there are some side effects, but most of the issues i have/had are a result of what was lying under the layers of fact thatw as padding me to be honest. most people cannot really know unless they've gone through it and i have. you live with it forever once it's done.

I would have to agree with you. I've known a few people that have even died post surgery. Not to mention others that have had complications also. My choice would be not to do it.

I know it doesn't work for most people who don't deal with the food addiction loop.

@SW-User yea, you really don't have a lot of stomach to even feed the food addiction

Not worth it at all. Everyone who got it either gained all the weight back, or ended up with liver and kidney damage.

It's a money making quick fix that doesn't actually fix anything. It is a feel good procedure that rarely lasts 5 years. As the cause of obesity is rarely "the fork" they don't solve the underlying problem. It is essentially starving you to lose weight. Weight loss surgery is not for the individual. It is for the people who don't like to look at you. Get better friends is a better alternative.
The people I know lost weight, and honestly, if that didn't happen they probably would have ended up succumbing to physical ailments associated with the extra weight (heart disease, diabetes, arthritis). So, yes if there are health issues associated with the extra weight. Unfortunately, the follow-up is possibly dealing with more surgery to deal with excess skin.

I think you would have be grossly overweight (Not just fat) to make it worthwhile. I see a lot of complications in those who have had it done too.

I worked with a lady that had it done and she lost about 200lbs
I think it's dangerous.

The main problem I have seen with it, is that you are supposed to entirely change your diet with it. You have a much smaller stomach, should eat smaller meals, and healthier ones.

No one I have seen get a bypass has done this.

Depends where in gastric you live :)
People who try it usually don't give a shit...
