While attempting to respond to a message, calling back my literary rep, the lines apparently got crossed and I heard the end of a conversation she was having with someone else. She said, "Well, we've taken this on, so we're going to see it through."
She spoke in a tone that was almost completely unfamiliar to me. She sounded very serious, sane and responsible, not at all like her various other personalities which she has displayed to me. I got the sense she is a LOT brighter and more knowledgeable than she has revealed to me over the years.
And...I wondered if she was talking about me and our situation over the last few years. She had been frantically trying to reach me before I phoned her back. It was definitely strange and creepy.
