How come people don't say exactly how they feel?

Why dont people say " i dont want to hang out/ be friends" instead of giving excuse after excuse or being flaky? Why cant a mate just say they dont want to be with you instead of lying that they arent cheating etc...

THANK YOU! Fucking around, stringing people along, and pretending to be sincere is much worse than the hard truth. Fuck. At least, if people say they're leaving, and they're considerate enough to explain Why, then there's room for growing. Otherwise, both people are stunted of growth and equally ignorant.
