Yeah. We're attracted to what's familiar, not always what's good for us. Our monkey brains learn what "normal" is really young, and if your "normal" is awful, you seek out awful.
We're all basically just gluttons for pain. When we see someone who we know will hurt us, we try and get with them, and if someone seems a bit too healthy, we call them boring.

I don't do that anymore. If I find someone as fucked up as me there's a 300% chance that they will ruin my life.
