I absolutely hate it

that a girl can come into class smelling like she's swam in the sewer and has enough B.O. for 10 teenage girls and still not have anything said to her. I mean, seriously. I cannot focus on my work with her in the same room. There are things people can do to get clean and smell better. I'm sorry, but these are the things that cause me to become mean. It's ignorant and nasty. I wish I could throw a bar of soap at her. And the teacher just says we need to be tolerant.

Now, I imagine that perhaps her family does not have running water, or she is really depressed and cannot take a shower or a bath. But THERE ARE THINGS TO DO ABOUT IT.

No one should have to tolerate that. Soap is cheap. She's probably not washing her clothes regularly. If she was, she wouldn't smell as bad. Your teacher needs to consider the well being of others instead of worrying about hurting the feelings of ONE person making the rest suffer.
@AlienZipper That is how I feel. If an 18 year old can attend the same classes as me (I am in mostly AP classes) and not be 'special' and still get away with smelling the way she does, then who isn't doing their job? Her, her parents, and my teacher who has to sit with her for two hours.

@insidiousisblindinception That's revolting and should not be allowed in a classroom. There's no excuse for this situation. I understand your reluctance... perhaps if enough of the class approached the teacher they'd pay attention...
@AlienZipper I'm trying to figure out who could possibly do something about it. I knew I was going to be looked at negatively for what I have to say about her. But not everything can be solved with a soft approach. I don't even befriend people I DO like. Lord knows if I smelled that way people would be mean to me too.

@insidiousisblindinception Someone who smells that bad has to know that others find it offensive, and to not try to correct it shows selfishness, disrespect, and a lack of consideration for others.
@AlienZipper Exactly. I can't imagine not taking a shower for more than 2 days. Imagine 2-6 weeks? I don't even know.

@insidiousisblindinception I'm afraid I would become physically ill in that environment. There's absolutely no excuse for that.

There are some cultures who don't bathe much but try to cover it up with scents. To hell with that. If you're going to live in this country, you better damn well learn to make some freaking adjustments.
She's American too.

Glad to see someone agrees with me as well.

@insidiousisblindinception If she's American that makes it even worse. I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this.
Thank you. Perhaps you'll PM me sometime. We might agree on some more things.

@insidiousisblindinception I'd be happy to...
