because there are not enough holes in the ground. 🙂

Funeral costs are expensive, so some people prefer to get cremated, and put in an urn instead of purchasing a coffin which can be thousands of dollars depending on what you purchase. In the Catholic Church, you can now get cremated and put in an urn, but you need to still be buried in a burial plot.

@emmalouise That's what my mom told me. Maybe it's different between the diocese in Canada & the US? I don't know.

@emmalouise would God give different catholics different laws
marsbar · F
@emmalouise I looked it up. The ashes need to be put in an urn/container & either buried, put in a mausoleum or columbarium. They can't be scattered.

I would like to be burried in the soil. Not in a box.

And to have trees , flowers and other life forms grow and feed on my matter transforming it into new energy..
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@Miram that's really cool I think

@Dan193

Cremation ashes are bad for the plants. They can kill them. And you need fuel and gas to be cremated. It's not exactly environmental friendly.

Nature does the best job on its own.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@Miram That's true
GLITTER · 36-40, F
I never wanted to be cremated. My reasoning was, what if I woke up and was alive. Surely I could have been burned alive.

Then my gf reminded me that if I wake up in a coffin, I'm stuck 6feet under, awake in a coffin. Not really that great alternative tbh.

So now I choose the fire.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@GLITTER Actually some started putting cameras and oxygen tanks in coffins, after one case when somebody woke up at the funeral.
LucyCan · 26-30, F
It's less work if you have firewood or hard ground. It also expedites commending of a spirit to the sky god.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@LucyCan I'm not sure about Islam, maybe even catholics have it differently, but to orthodox' that's considered disrespectful to the deceased to not bury them.
LucyCan · 26-30, F
@Dan193 Jesus wasn't buried. At least not for long.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@LucyCan omg I don't even want to think about it, but he wasn't cremated either x.x
rosedragonslayer · 18-21, F
It has been historically done to prevent deseases from spreading and to stop the dead from rising but now it’s done I think because it’s easier and cheaper.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@rosedragonslayer oh yeah, I didn't think about the cost. Right.

It’s all personal choices.
It's my choice because I won't feel it and I won't rot underground
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@Mondayschild but your friends or kids or whoever, they could visit you. You might not know it ever, but for them it will be a pleasant moment where they could feel close to you.
@Dan193 I see your point but I hope to be scattered and my pug will be there with me.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@Mondayschild alright

They’re afraid of meeting their god.
SW-User
I want to be cremated.
Once the person is gone, I do not see what the point of a physical place to visit them is. Your memories of them live within you.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@SW-User The memories are most important of course, but having a place to visit where you could feel close to that person is also important.
SW-User
@Dan193 I don't see it's importance but I do believe this is a personal matter. I just prefer to be gone when I die, I don't even want my ashes saved.
I wish to be a zombie one day..

DONT BURN MY ASS
rosedragonslayer · 18-21, F
The living will burn you with flame throwers if that happened then ;)@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout
Mrsbetweenfatandfit · 31-35, F
I’d rather be burnt crispy lol but no seriously for myself the image of bugs eating my dead body and taking up more room of limited land doesn’t make me feel good. Mix my ashes and grow something that’s just my preference
Dan193 · 31-35, M
