I so hate those !!!
You go to the interview and it's SO obvious the person/panel interviewing would rather be extracting their own teeth than be there!!
And this soppy trend of having 'rounds' of interviews.......like you're supposed to be so grateful you made it to round 3 !!!!
When, it's obvious they are merely trawling rather than KNOW what they want !!
Also the 'jelly and ice cream games" at group assessment/interviews !!!
"Here's a pointless task in the form of an excercise! As a team......." Ugh !
Happens in social work a lot. Normally under the guise of "We'd rather not appoint than accept a sub-standard candidate"

in the final round of interview for software sales at Oracle Corporation. "Name any 5 brands of shirt?"
I wanted to kill him. later I came to know from the industry that the person did not want me because he had a very stupid past from then my current organisation and did not want someone who may find out from his obvious common contacts. I was the victim.

:( that interview still haunts me.

Where do you see yourself in five minutes?

Perhaps one of the most important questions but I dislike the way it is usually asked. Where do you see yourself in 5 years. How utterly stupid. When I used to interview and hire, I always asked it this way. What are your short term and long term goals and what do you hope to be doing in 5 years.
Not all interviews are the same!

Once when I was conducting an interview, a current employee came into the break room looking for his wallet. He had ordered a pizza and couldn't find his wallet anywhere. Without thinking I made a little quip about just trading favors for the pizza. We all had a good laugh and the girl I was interviewing made a clever little joke too. After that, we chatted like old friends the rest of the interview and, of course, I hired her. She eventually became my BFF.

Since you have a child does that mean your going to be the one who stays home with him whenever he is sick?

@infniteblue in the us that question is illegal
More confusing than annoying, but during an interview in a pub I was asked 'if you were on holiday, and the food wasn't up to standard, would you eat at a different place'?

@ladycae it was asked in the US to me. She also told me that mothers tend to stay home with their kids so she was concerned about hiring me because I was a mother to a young child at the time.

1. "Why do you want this job?"
2. "What makes you the ideal candidate for this role ?"
3 "Can you give us an example of when you....."
Very un imaginative!

Yes I was young and was offended so I just looked for employment elsewhere. I know now that it was not an appropriate or okay question to ask.

Well @infiniteblue you could have sued the company. It's gender discrimination in hiring practces.
