How do you help someone you care about who is in their own Hell?
I mean Hell as a state of mind. Where they hate themselves, their life, and still being here. Suffering misery only they can understand.

You just be there as much as you can. There will really not be much point to making them see sense, because its just a different kind of hopelessness they feel. It can be very draining though to be around such people, but if you care enough, just be there and let them know you're around.
