Has anyone heard about any cases of people asking you for money on here? I mean like scammers, not people you know. Is that a thing?

Because there's this guy that randomly messaged me a couple of days ago asking me how am I, etc, what do I do for work, then he was asking me whether I still live with my parents(I suppose he wanted to know if I'm self-sufficient). I kept pulling away from these questions and steering the convo in a different direction. But then he began asking me about cars and I stopped the convo suspecting that a "do u have a car" question was coming.
Now, today he messaged me again asking whether I had a busy day at work.

Am I overthinking this and the guy is just looking to chat? or is he really interested in my financial status and whether I could "lend" him money?

No one has done that directly but had a problem on EP with young guys trying to chat me up and telling me they liked older women. I believe they (or it could have been one who switched identities) were into extortion scamming, they will get people to go on webcams and act like they love them or whatever and either get them to expose themselves on camera or find out information they can use against them (such as if they are married or whatever)...then they go to work demanding money not to tell. One notorious one got caught right before EP got closed down, there was a newspaper article about him.

@cherokeepatti wow I didn't know about that and that's it's actually a thing on these websites. Thanks,
